Cisco CCDA Certification

Technical Professionals who want to learn how to design simple routed LAN, routed WAN, and switched LAN networks can earn certification from Cisco to become a designated Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA). This validates that the associate has a particular level of knowledge and expertise in designing routed and switched networks involving LAN, WAN, and dial access services for networks with fewer than 100 nodes.

To become CCDA certified, you must pass the Designing Cisco Networks 640-441 exam, which covers the following topics: identifying customer needs, designing the network structure, building a prototype network structure, internetworking basics, LAN protocols, bridging and switching, routed protocols, and routing protocols.

According to Cisco, a CCDA will have the expertise to perform the following tasks:

• Determine the customer's requirements for network performance, security, capacity, and scalability

Typical CCDA candidates are systems engineers and network designers with a working knowledge of internetworking and Cisco products. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is recommended as a prerequisite to CCDA certification.
