E-LEARNING COURSES AT GETSKILLED.COM CONFIRMED COMPLIANT BY THE EUROPEAN COMPUTER
DRIVING LICENCE FOUNDATION LIMITED. MindLeaders courseware materials
approved for compliance with the ECDL Foundation ECDL/ICDL Syllabus
Version 3.0.
PORTLAND, Oregon - November 21, 2001 - getskilled.com,
through it's partnership with MindLeaders, a leader in
enterprise-quality Web-based training, announced today that its European
Computer Driving License course materials have met the compliance
requirements for the ECDL Foundation European Computer Driving
License/International Computer Driving License (ECDL/ICDL) Syllabus
Version 3.0. The MindLeaders ECDL/ICDL courses help prepare individuals
for the European Computer Driving License (ECDL) and the International
Computer Driving License (ICDL) certification exams gaining worldwide
acceptance. The certification is available in over 56 countries and there
are in excess of 1.6 million registered candidates. ECDL is the name given
to the license in Europe while the name ICDL refers to the same license
and test in all countries outside of Europe.
The European Computer Driving Licence Foundation Limited (http://www.ecdl.com)
introduced the certification in 1997 with the objective of establishing a
global standard for basic knowledge about Information Technology (IT)
concepts and the fundamental competence of using a personal computer. As
the guarantor of the ECDL/ICDL program, the foundation ensures the ECDL is
administered in a consistent manner worldwide. The ECDL certifies the
holder has knowledge of the basic concepts of IT and is able to use a
personal computer and common computer applications at a fundamental level
of competence. As an internationally accepted certificate, the ECDL can
simplify employment applicant screening and assure employers applicants
and staff have the necessary skills to use common computer applications.
"The ECDL/ICDL is an important worldwide effort undertaken by the
European Computer Driving Licence Foundation, and we are proud to be
supportive of this effort," said Angus Carroll, MindLeaders chief
operating officer. Basic computer skills are already required for many
jobs, and this requirement will certainly increase in the near future.
Being able to demonstrate the mastery of these skills by displaying a
recognized credential will make finding jobs for qualified people easier
and reduce the risk to employers of hiring unqualified staff."
Over thirty hours of training spread across seven courses help
individuals prepare for the exam. The self-paced courses are presented in
real-time over the Internet through the Microsoft Internet Explorer
browser permitting learners to access the courses from anywhere at
anytime. Learners can take a pre-test to determine what areas of personal
computing they have not mastered potentially shortening their learning
time. Highly interactive courses also test learning as the learner
progresses through a course. A post-test is provided to help learners
gauge their mastery of the material and readiness for the ECDL/ICDL exam.
The ECDL/ICDL license is new to North America, and testing centers are
in the process of being established. Currently, learners located within
North America can make arrangements with ICDL-US to take the proctored
exam on a PC located within their employer's office. To stay abreast of
new testing centers being established within North America, simply check
the ICDL-US website at www.icdlus.com. Learners located in countries
outside of North America can check the ECDL Foundation's website (www.ecdl.com)
for their respective country to find a convenient testing location.
MindLeaders courses are licensed on a subscription basis at getskilled.com,
permitting
learners to have unlimited access to the courses on an annual basis.
